Our Friday program enjoyed hearing about John and his motorcycling buddy and long time friend Loren Wunderle, who together spent a great six weeks cycling around the U.S.A. — all four corners. (Mike Wilkins came along until Texas.) John showed a lot of fantastic photos of this great land, literally from sea to shining sea. Read more… »

Our December 2nd program hosted Nancy Buell for an overview of the Girl Scouts of America and their centennial celebration. Several leaders modeled historical uniforms, from 1919 up to the present, and presented GSA history and vignettes of their own personal experiences. Read more… »

On Saturday, December 10th, we need volunteers for: 1) setting up 1,200 luminarias (and for supervising youth volunteers) in Tempe Beach Park; and, 2) selling our holiday bling for fundraising. Read more… »

We had a blast at this year’s Festival of Lights, which is one of our annual fundraising events. Once again, Carolyn Johnson took charge and enlisted John and several club members, plus a good group of Interacters, to sell ‘bling’ on Mill Avenue. At last report, we made $3,664, so we sold a lot of merchandise! Read more… »

High Speed Rotary Gran Prix

Dozens of Rotarians took up the invitation by Superstition Mountain Rotary to enter the 2011 Rotary Gran Prix at the Bondurant Racing School. Tempe South was represented by the two Dennis’ – Dennis Clark (member) and Dennis Rogers (member’s hubby). Visiting members of the US-Mexico Friendship Exchange got a special treat on Sunday, November 20th. Our visitors from Mexico hiked a portion of The Arizona Trail in connection with the “800 MILES TO END POLIO NOW” project. The hike was followed by excellent box lunches, drinks and lots of fellowship. New friendships were formed and lots of pictures taken. Read more… »

A number of Rotary members and clubs are doing projects or have been involved in individual efforts to make life a little better for our neighbors south of the border in Rocky Point, Mexico. It was also found that a number of members have expressed a desire for “hands on” rather than check writing international projects. Read more… »

A group of volunteers helped repaint, clean up, and brighten a Phoenix home on September 24th for Homeward Bound. Representing the Corona del Sol and Compadre Interact clubs, as well as Tempe South Rotary, the volunteers worked to repaint the exterior of the home and touch up paint around windows and doors. In addition, they planted flowers at the front of the home. Read more… »
